The year 2022 presents a day in age where it’s easy to find things to disagree on. If you deal regularly with social media or the common news cycle, you are aware that there are always issues and stances to discuss—many people hoping their view or position is heard. But through it all, we often beg the question: what role does “fun” play in all this? We know, we know . . . it may not seem like the most direct correlation. But at the core of each human being, there is imagination and heart for something that yearns for more than debate and disagreement. How do we know this? Because when you look at how children act—in other words, our age of primal instinct—we get a glimpse of how fun can bring people together. That’s why we, as adults, get excited thinking and talking about things like elementary school carnivals and bounce house memories. Because they speak to something beneath society’s surface: the human condition.
But before we get TOO deep, allow us to address these carnivals and memories themselves. That’s because anyone who lives in the area knows that November through February isn’t the best outdoor carnival weather. (HOWEVER, it is worth noting that we serve schools year-round and often set up shop in gyms and cafeterias when it’s cold). But when the weather is suitable for an outdoor elementary school carnival, the joy on those playgrounds and parking lots is evident!
The “Why” behind our Fun Services Midwest mission is often on full display in those moments, and is the reason we say joy goes beyond these elementary school carnivals—which is the event on the surface, but it’s about so much more than the occasion itself. We are here to serve you and your school/organization. But more than anything, our true “Why” is to help remind our (local and national) community that at our core, Americans have far more to agree on than disagree. Sometimes that just looks like remembering childhood and the wonder that comes with jumping up and down on an inflatable, or running around with the friends of our youth.
