Early Bird Christmas Planning: Why It Pays to Start Now

Woman Sitting on Couch Near Christmas Tree | Fun Services Midwest

Christmas is only four months away, and we’re starting the countdown now because it’s too exciting to save until after Thanksgiving! We’ve already finished our Christmas in July celebration, and now it’s time to start thinking about the biggest holiday season of the year. It’s not too early to begin planning, and you’ll reap the rewards if you start planning now. So put on some holiday tunes, break out the ugly sweaters, and join us for some Christmas planning motivation!

Here are five holly-and-jolly reasons why getting ahead with your Christmas planning game will have you singing fa-la-la-la-la come December:

1. Ensure Your Guests Save the Date

It may be the “most wonderful time of the year,” but for many of us, the holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year! Calendars quickly fill up with events, fundraisers, parties, cookie exchanges, family celebrations, office parties, and so much more.

This is where a little advance planning pays off: When you start planning now, you ensure your guests can save the date! Whether you’re entertaining a smaller group at your home or office, or throwing a community-wide festival, getting your event on the calendar means you’ll get the turnout you want and plenty of YES responses to your invite!

And we all know how busy Mr. and Mrs. Clause get in December! So if you start planning now, you can get on their calendar as early as possible!

2. Create a Vision

Anyone who’s ever planned an event will agree: Creating your vision and organizing the details just takes time! Leave the overnight magic to Santa and the reindeer and begin developing your vision now.

Here’s the fun thing about planning ahead for a holiday event — not only will you have time to execute your vision, but you’ll also have time to organize all the details! For example, no holiday movie marathon is complete without the popcorn! If you’re throwing a Christmas carnival, you’ll have plenty of time to secure all your carnival games!

3. Book in Advance

Gifts aren’t the only thing you can buy ahead of time. All the items you need for your event can be booked, reserved, and bought well ahead of your event.

One of the most fun surprises you can give your kids for Christmas is a fun party rental right in their own backyard on Christmas morning! Need a rental recommendation? Our Candyland inflatable is a kid favorite that will really bring the visions of sugarplums to life! You could also go a different route and bring the joy of a Trackless Train ride to your whole neighborhood followed by a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Clause.

4. Make the Most of Your Budget

Christmas isn’t just a busy time of year. It’s an expensive time of year! When you plan ahead, you can maximize your event budget and have all the festive fun without feeling like a financial flop.

To make the most of your event budget, start with the “big ticket” items — the must-have items that will create the guest experience you envision. For example, if you’re hosting a Christmas Casino night for your office party, decide which casino games are must-haves. A party for friends and neighbors becomes memorable with a fun selfie booth (don’t forget the Santa hat!). Then you know exactly how much of your budget is left for the other details, like snacks, drinks, party favors, or decorations.

5. Help Children Prepare with the Holiday Gift Shop!

One of the trickiest parts of holiday planning is helping children select gifts for their family and friends, but we have a solution. At Fun Services Midwest, we offer a special program known as Santa’s Secret Gift Shop and Holiday Gift Shop that makes it easy for children to choose from a curated selection of holiday gifts right at their school. Parents set the budget, but kids do the shopping and wrapping.

If you are a parent or work for a school in Kansas, Missouri, or Illinois and are interested in learning more about our Santa’s Secret Shop and Holiday Gift Shop, contact Lisa at lisa@funservicesmw.com or 1-844-770-3400 to learn more about booking this fantastic gift-planning program for your school! Just imagine the stress you’ll take off parents plates when they know kiddos can handle even a few of the gift-giving responsibilities!
