Tis the season to sweat! To live in Kansas City is to experience frigid winters and sweltering summers. Sure, we don’t have to suffer through a polar vortex or year-round 90-degree temperatures, but we do need to be alert for intense temperatures when they come our way. For the amount of sweating we all experienced in July, there are a couple more reasons August means the heat is on: 1) continued high temperatures (stay hydrated!) which means an inflatable water slide is in order, and 2) back to school for students everywhere. The latter of which produces a different kind of heat, yes, but back to school doesn’t have to mean dred for children and their families. School means getting back together with friends and community on a regular basis. It means fall is just around the corner—sports, cooler temps, and extracurricular activities for all to enjoy! Therefore, we want to discuss back to school party ideas and how Fun Services Midwest can help you celebrate the right way.
You don’t have to work or volunteer at a school to consider throwing a back-to-school party. You don’t even have to have a pool in your backyard—though it might help in the summer! Yard Games for Your Back to School Party
We’ve all heard the phrase “Location, location, location” when it comes to things like real estate or traveling. But location is also vital when throwing a back to school party! The initial thought is at one’s home. Only you can assess your front yard, backyard, or apartment complex and if it creates a good environment for you or the students in your life.
With that said, if you thought this post was solely for elementary school students . . . think again! We don’t care if you’re in kindergarten or getting your MBA. August is a great time to celebrate access to education, and it’s worth getting your friends and family together for the occasion.
If you don’t think your home is conducive to such a gathering, that’s totally OK! Our next suggestion is at a beautiful (and hopefully shaded!) park nearby. Many parks in and around Kansas City have covered shelters to set up shop, and plenty of shade is necessary—especially if you plan on partying during the heat of the day. Pack up a cooler full of drinks, order a couple party trays from your favorite restaurant, and send out invites a couple weeks in advance. The party doesn’t need to take place before the first day of school exactly, but don’t reach October wishing you had taken advantage of an excuse to celebrate!
