Love the Party: Valentine’s Day Parties and Sweetheart Dances

basketball challenge inflatable

Love is in the air, and what’s more fun than a party to celebrate it? This Valentine’s Day, we’re ditching boring bouquets and awkward dinner dates in favor of school events where everyone can relax and just have fun! Here’s how you can celebrate Valentine’s Day in style with a party theme for every age group.

Elementary School: Valentine’s Day Party Fun

Let’s be real: elementary school kids don’t really care what the theme of the event is, so long as they can have fun playing games! Especially for younger kiddos, Valentine’s Day is all about having fun with friends. Make the Valentine’s Day party one that will really get their hearts pumping.

All of these party games can be played in pairs, so kids can choose a BFF to take on the challenge together:

  • Football Bowling: Compete against another pair or team, trying to knock down their pins before they get yours!
  • Foosball: Did you know you can rent a foosball table from Fun Services? Everyone loves this classic party game, and it’s perfect for one-on-one or two-on-two competitions.
  • Twister: A favorite for decades, our version is more than just a flat mat: it’s inflatable, making the balancing act even more of a challenge (and safer when someone takes a tumble).

Middle School: Sweetheart Dance with a Twist

Junior high is when kids enter the preteen and teen years, when crushes run rampant and school dances are a new, thrilling experience. If you’re planning a Sweetheart Dance for your puberty-fueled students, take the pressure off by adding some fun games they can play with friends.

Here are a few party game rentals that resonate more with middle schoolers, working well for events where they may bring a date for the first time:

  • Whip N Skip: This two-player deluxe game is easy to learn, doesn’t take a ton of space, and has a black-and-red color theme that’s perfect for a Valentine’s Day event!
  • Basketball Challenge: Your athletically-inclined partygoers will love this 2-4 player basketball shooting game!
  • Roller Bowler: Another two-player game with a black-and-red design, this game is like microbowling! It’s quick to play, so students won’t have to wait long in line to have fun.

High School: Casino Royale Gala

Once students hit the high school years, school dances are the norm. Everyone is giddy waiting to see who will be asked to the prom, but don’t skimp on the Valentine’s Day dance! Our favorite theme for a night of glam and romance is Casino Royale. It gives students more activities to focus on beyond dancing, keeping everyone safe in the school gym as they participate in casino games that make them feel classy and grown up.

You may not want to have a blackjack table with dealers for your teenage guests, but the good news is we’ve introduced a new line of casino-themed, skill-based games for 2026 that give all the glamorous vibes without any of the gambling! Check them out:

  • Cash-in: Inspired by Quarters, players bounce casino chips off the hearts or clubs to try and rack up points.
  • Chip Shot: This one is reminiscent of a sharpshooter game at the fair, but on a smaller scale (and casino-themed).
  • Bank Roll: Shuffleboard meets casino chips!
  • Plinko Suits: Dropping chips down between the pegs a la classic plinko, you’re building a poker hand in this revamped version of a carnival fave!

Shock Your Guests with This New Party Game!

We have so many new electric party rentals lighting up Kansas City and St. Louis this year, and one of our favorites is an easy win for any party this spring: The High Voltage Cash Chamber! Participants climb inside this energized chamber and get charged up as cash, tickets, or other promotions swirl around. At a Valentine’s Day event, this can be a fun way for students to win prizes or earn extra tickets to spend on the other party games.

Another fun way to use this electrifying chamber is as a pre-event promo! Set it up in the cafeteria during the lunch break to conduct interest in the upcoming dance or after-school celebration. Instead of cash, fill the chamber with vouchers to be used at the event or confetti and a few golden tickets that give free entry.
